Nizamabad MP K Kavitha has launched an Initiative, Telangana Jagruti, to adopt the families of the Farmers, who committed suicide. Till date, more than 80 families have been adopted and they will be offered financial assistance of Rs 5,000 per month.
Hyderabad’s pride, Badminton star, Gutta Jwala has come forward and donated Rs 10 lakh for this organization and she appealed people to come forward to help the distressed families of the farmers.
Telangana brand ambassador and Tennis sensation Sania Mirza has donated Rs 3 lakh. Her mother Naseema Mirza has handed over the cheque to Kavitha. Indian Cricketer Pragyan Ohja donated Rs 2 lakh.
According to the Government records, 430 farmers have committed suicide in the last one year and based on Government’s criteria, 141 families are eligible for ex-gratia out of the 430.
However, opposition Parties allege that the suicides have already surpassed 1,000.
