Flabbergasting Debut: Mayank Agarwal becomes highest run scorer on Test

Mayank Agarwal, 27, notched up eight boundaries and one hit over the fence, thus, becoming the highest run-scorer for India on Test debut in Melbourne, Australia. The record was by Dattu Phadkar in December 1947, scoring 51 runs on his debut in Sydney.

Mayank Agarwal, hailing from Bengaluru broke into the Indian Test squad when openers Rahul and Vijay were put at rest due to their poor performances. With a superb first-class record, counting a triple century November 2017.

Mayank has played 46 first-class, and 75 List A matches for Karnataka, neighbouring 50 in both. He has played 111 T20 matches.

Agarwal’s first-class debut in November 2013, was for Karnataka against Mysore. After presenting himself in the Delhi Daredevils, Rising Pune Supergiant and Royal Challengers Bangalore, he currently plays for Kings XI Punjab.
