Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda has today officially launched an indigenous condom specifically made for Women.
The contraceptive named ‘Velvet’ was launched at the two-day National Family Planning Summit. Manufactured by HLL Lifecare Ltd (HLL) R&D Centre at Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Velvet is the first indigenously developed natural latex female condom.
After launching the condom, Nadda said that Velvet has the potential to become a game-changer for female as it provides complete protection. Moreover, it gives Women more control over having safe sex. Nadda claimed the product a medium of empowering Women.
Velvet has been produced by HLL in a world class manufacturing facility.
