Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has been invited by United Nations to deliver a keynote address at an occasion named ‘Financing Sustainable agriculture: Global Challenges and Opportunities’.
In a message, the UN Environment Programme Executive Director acclaimed the state of Andhra Pradesh for “delivering transformative environmental, social and economic impact through its pioneering Zero Budget Natural Farming Programme.”
The message included, “UN Environment is privileged to support your ambitious efforts to scale-out zero chemical farming to 6 million Farmers across the state by 2024.”
On 2 June 2014, the north-western portion of Andhra Pradesh was separated to form the new state of Telangana; the long-time capital of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad, was transferred to Telangana as part of the division.
However, in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, Hyderabad was to remain as the de jure capital of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states for a period of time not exceeding ten years.
