The Anti-Terrorist Front of India (ATFI) has threatened to dig up the Eden Gardens pitch in Kolkata for hosting the India-Pakistan match of the World Twenty20.
It may be noted that the ATFI has been opposing the move of letting Pakistan play in India until the masterminds behind the terrorist attacks in Mumbai and Pathankot are handed to India.
“Hosting of Pakistan in India is a grave insult to all our brave soldiers who were martyred in these attacks. We will not allow the match at any cost, we will dig up the Eden pitch, there will be massive protests,” said the ATFI national President.
“The ATFI now is holding a meet to decide our course of action. How can the Indian Cricket board be insensitive to undermine the tears of widows of our martyrs? We will hold protests across Kolkata including the airport,” he added.
The ATFI had earlier threatened to dig up the pitch at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala which was in the first place scheduled to host the India-Pakistan tie on March 19.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has relocated the tie to Kolkata citing security reasons.
