After winning the third and final T20I by 7 wickets today by chasing down an imposing target of 198 runs, India inflicted a 3-0 T20I series whitewash on host Australia.
In the nail-biting match, India needed 17 runs off the last over. Yuvraj Singh’s two boundaries of the first two balls and Suresh Raina’s cool and calm 49 runs off 25 balls rounded the Australians and gave India the First Ever whitewash against Australia in Australia.
Rohit Sharma (52 off 38 balls) and Virat Kohli (50 off 36 balls) made early inroads for India’s victory. Earlier, Australian Opener Shane Watson scored an unbeaten century (127) to guide Australia to an imposing total of 197/5 but the cool heads of India delivered the goods at the crucial moment.
Watson is given the Man of the Match award though for his sublime performance. Kohli was given the Man-of-the-Series award for scoring 199 runs in the 3 match series.
India became the new No.1 in T20Is. India is also the No.1 in Tests with No.2 ranking in ODIs.
