Indian-American top lawyer in US Vanita Gupta, has been designated to head the civil rights division of the US Justice Department.
Vanita Gupta is the first South Asian to hold this post.
As statement given by the Attorney General, “Vanita has spent her whole profession attempting to guarantee that our country satisfies its guarantee of equivalent equity for all,”
Gupta started her profession as an attorney with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Notwithstanding her work with the ACLU and NAACP Legal Defense Fund, she has taught social equality prosecution and advocacy centers at New York University School of Law.
She got a B.A.from Yale University and J.D. from New York University School of Law.
