Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, has been ranked the world’s Best hotel, as per the latest rankings published by Travel site TripAdvisor.
The golden-yellow sandstone monument was built in 1943 and was named after Maharaja Umaid Singh. It now serves as the principal residence of the Jodhpur royal family. Also housing a museum, the Umaid Bhawan Palace was designed by famous Edwardian architect Henry Lanchester as a blend of eastern and western architectural influences.
Umaid Bhawan Palace has 347 rooms out of which 64 are managed by Taj Hotels and are open for Tourists. A normal room at the Umaid Bhawan Palace costs an average of Rs 50,000 per night for a couple.
The only other Indian hotel to Feature in TripAdvisor’s 25-best hotels list is the Orange County Resorts Kabini in Karnataka, ranking 13th in the world.
