The chief minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan on 31st of August announced that people affected due to heavy floods in the state will be offered ₹1 lakh interest-free loan to buy everyday substances.
He also said, a loan of ₹10 lakh will also be provided to support small-scale traders.
He further announced that his Cabinet has appointed KPMG as consultant partner in rebuilding the state.
Beginning in July 2018, severe floods affected the state, due to unusually high rainfall during the monsoon season.
It was the worst flooding in Kerala in nearly a century. Over 483 people died, 14 are missing. At least a million people were evacuated.
