According to the buzz, Shah Rukh Khan has refunded 50 percent of the losses occurred to the distributors of his latest release, Rohit Shetty directorial ‘Dilwale’.
In fact, Shah Rukh Khan’s production house Red Chilles Entertainment turned distributor with this Film and sold most of the territories in India at premium prices considering the film having high on buzz. However, the myriad controversies that followed after Shah Rukh’s statement on rising intolerance didn’t let the film have a proper release.
Most of the shows had to be cancelled due to protest by various extreme organizations. Even the word of mouth was not so encouraging. Due to all this, the collections took a beating. Even though the overseas collections of Dilwale were fantastic, the numbers were below par expectations in India.
Even Shah Rukh admitted earlier this month at a press conference, “I don’t think the film has done as well as it should have. I am personally disappointed with that. It has perhaps not done as well in India as I would like it to do. But overseas it has done very well in a lot of countries.”
South Superstar Rajinikanth is known for covering the losses of distributors by taking money from his pocket.
