Kamal accepted, Rajini did not

The newly elected members of the South Indian Artistes Association (Nadigar Sangam) held their first meeting and press conference on 25th October and few key decisions were taken.

It was heard initially that legendary actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth would be made Honorary Advisors to the association. However, it was announced that Kamal Haasan has agreed to be one of the nine trustees of the Sangam but Rajinikanth had not accepted any post.

Rajinikanth has reportedly requested the elected body to change the name from South Indian Artistes Association to Tamil Nadu Nadigar Sangam. After looking at the legal issues of changing the name, the effort will be made to honor the request of Rajini.

Actor Vishal, the new General Secretary, stated that Nadigar Sangam would remain politically neutral. He added that the first task of the Nadigar Sangam will be to look into the land deal with SPI Cinemas and construct a state-of-the-art building for the Sangam.
