Revealing the news on Twitter, Kamal Haasan confirmed and said “Received the Henri Langloise award in Paris . Wish Ananthu sir my guru had been alive to hear this. Heard of Langloise only through him”.
The Henri Langlois Award ceremony is typically organized by the French National Commission for UNESCO, and the International Meeting of Cinema Heritage at the UNESCO House in Paris every year.
Henri Langlois (1914 – 1977) was a French Film archivist and cinephile. A pioneer of film preservation, Langlois was an influential figure in the history of cinema. In 1974, Langlois received an honorary Academy Award for “his devotion to the art of film, his massive contributions in preserving its past and his unswerving faith in its future.”
