Kohli Fined for Umpire’s Mistake; Social Media Angry

Indian Cricketer Virat Kohli was on Sunday fined 30 percent of his match fees for Level 1 breach of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct during India’s Asia Cup Twenty20 match against Pakistan on Saturday evening.

Kohli was found to have breached Article 2.1.5 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel by showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during that game.

An ICC statement in this regard reads, “The incident happened in the 15th over of India’s innings when Kohli, after being given out leg before, displayed dissent by first showing his bat and then leaving the crease while looking back at the umpire and uttering some words that were contrary to the spirit of the game.”

India won that match by five wickets while chasing Pakistan’s total of 83 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Kohli was named man-of-the-match for his brilliant knock of 49 off 51 deliveries on a bowler friendly pitch.

In fact, Kohli was given out by the umpire even though the replays suggest he was not out. social media is enraged with the injustice done to him.
