Maharashtra Sex Workers’ Donation for Chennai Flood Victims

People generally look at sex workers with eyes of discrimination. They don’t earn the respect that a normal human being deserves, just because of their profession. However, sex workers from Maharashtra have now proved that humanity matters the most, not the profession.

Around 2,000 sex workers from Ahmednagar area in Maharashtra have contributed Rs 1 lakh to Tamil Nadu CM relief fund in the wake of the worst flood ever to hit Chennai and neighboring districts.

On December 7th, the sex workers handed over Rs 1 lakh cheque to District Collector at an event organized by NGO Snehalaya. Girish Kulkarni, the founder of Snehalaya, said that the sex workers were concerned about the Chennai residents ever since they came to know about the natural calamity.

Finally, they decided to help to the victims in whatever way they can. They contributed a portion of their savings and survived on just one meal for a day to raise this amount.

A heart touching and inspiring act from the people, who are normally not even considered as human beings but only as flesh.
