Mauritius PM Underwent Eye Surgery in Hyderabad

Mauritius Prime Minister Anerood Jugnauth has reportedly undergone eye surgery at Maxivision Super Speciality Eye Hospital in Hyderabad.

Kasu Prasad Reddy, chief surgeon and co-chairman at Maxivision hospital, told reporters that the cataract surgery was complicated as Jugnauth also had glaucoma. While his right eye was operated upon on 19th, the surgery on left eye was performed on 25th of this month.

Each surgery lasted for half an hour and the 84-year-old has completely recovered after the surgery. He will be flying back early next week after undergoing a checkup on Sunday.

The PM was scheduled to address the media but decided not to in the last minute as his visit was private.

“One of the main reasons for which I have decided to receive treatment in India was the good reputation of this country in terms of specialists, medical products and surgical procedures,” a statement by the hospital quoted as the PM saying.
