Mayawati justifies her statues in an affidavit to Supreme Court

The Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has referred Mayawati to reimburse the public money.

Ravi Kant, an advocate of PIL alleging over the misuse of public money for that, was spent in the construction of the statue.

The statues were constructed at the cost of Rs 52.20 crore at public places.

Mayawati, the Chief of Bahujan Samaj Party, had justified and told the Supreme Court that her statue that was built, the party symbol and the elephant made in the public places represented the “will of the people.”

The Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has referred Mayawati to reimburse the public money that she has spent on building the elephants. He also added that Mayawati should return the public money from her pocket.

The oral observations were directed at senior advocate Rakesh Khanna who represented the leader in 10 years Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that alleged the public money misuse for installing her statues.

Ravi Kant, an advocate of PIL alleging over the misuse of public money for that, was spent in the construction of the statue. In 2009 a restraint order file was also in the name of Mayawati. Ravi Kant also asked the Central Bureau of Investigation to remove the sculptures.

The then Chief Minister, Kant PIL said that the public money was “falsely glorify” and it even violated the state policy of the Constitution. The statues were constructed at the cost of Rs 52.20 crore at public places.
