In what we call as a democratic country, where everyone has the right to do what he wants, a public representative, an MLA has been beaten in broad daylight in the most protected place, the Assembly.
Going into the details, Jammu and Kashmir MLA Engineer Rashid was manhandled by BJP MLAs in the state Assembly, yesterday, on 8th Oct. As per reports, just a day before, Rashid hosted a beef party.
BJP Legislators began thrashing Rashid soon after he reached the Assembly and if not for the Opposition MLAs who came for his rescue, Rashid, an Independent MLA, could have sustained serious injuries.
The incident took place even before the Assembly proceedings began and the footage is now being aired on the state news channels.
CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed condemned this attack on Rashid and he asked senior BJP MLA Nirmal Singh to apologize for this objectionable act.
Just few days back, Supreme Court had suspended the order of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir to enforce ban on beef sales in the state.
