Modi Lauds Power Ministry for Electrifying 5,000 Villages

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the power Ministry for their excellent work of providing electricity to 5,000 un-electrified villages in just the past six months.

In a series of tweets, Modi lauded power ministry and recalled his earlier promises made from the Red Fort last year.

“From the ramparts of the Red Fort last year, I had called for the electrification of all remaining villages in 1,000 days (18,452 villages).

Happy to Share that Team India has done exceedingly well. Within about 6 months only (around 200 days), we have crossed the 5,000-mark.

Already 5,279 villages have been electrified. Excellent work has been done by the Power Ministry in Bihar, UP, Odisha, Assam and Jharkhand.

Power Ministry shares real time updates on rural electrification. Their dashboard is worth a look. http://www.garv.gov.in,” tweeted Modi.

The government is planning to provide electricity to the remaining un-electrified villages by May 1, 2018.
