Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ranked 9th in the Forbes’ list of “The World’s Most Powerful People”. Moving up six spots, Modi has for the first time made it to the top 10 in the elite list.
Out of the 73 names in the list, Russian President Vladimir Putin takes the top spot for the third year in succession. German Chancellor Angela Merkel moved up three places from last year to be ranked 2nd.
US President Barack Obama dropped one place to become 3rd, making it the first year when a sitting American president has not made it to the top two places.
Pope Francis retains his 4th place this year too followed by China’s Xi Jinping, who fell two places. Next comes Bill Gates at 6th, US Federal Reserve chair person Janet Yellen at 7th, British Prime Minister David Cameron at 8th and Alphabet CEO Larry Page at 10th place.
The only other Indian to figure in the list was the Richest man of India and the Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, at 36th place.
