Hyderabad High Court has directed the government of Andhra Pradesh (AP) to conduct Gam Panchayat elections in the State within three months.

The High court reportedly struck down the Andhra Pradesh government order of August 1 engaging special officers for the gram panchayats.

The verdict in favour of gram panchayat elections came after a petition was filed by a group of former sarpanches challenging the Andhra government decision to run the gram panchayats under special officers’ instructions.

Former Sarpanches Met With JanaSena Chief Pawan Kalyan

A few weeks ago, gram sarpanch union had a meeting with JanaSena chief Pawan Kalyan and requested his party support to fight against the AP government decision.

After he had a lengthy meeting with former gram sarpanches, Pawan Kalyan slammed the AP government for its ruthless decision and extended his party support to gram panchayats.

He further said his party will take all the necessary steps to protect Panchayat Raj institutions.

Ruling Telugu Desam (TDP) leaders later hit back Pawan Kalyan on his support to gram sarpanches by saying he’s not matured politician.

Considering the factors befallen in this entire episode, it is a big moral victory for JanaSena Party and its chief Pawan Kalyan, according to Political Analysts.
