Mosquito coils and incense sticks contain carcinogens, says researcher

Sundeep Salvi, chief of Chest Research Foundation, Pune said breathing in smoke emitted by mosquito coils and incense sticks is not only harmful to the lungs, but can also cause cancer.

While addressing at the 48th National Conference of Indian College of Allergy, Asthma and Applied Immunology, Salvi asserted that research by the foundation had demonstrated that mosquito coils and incense sticks contain carcinogens.

He also said, burning one mosquito coil in a shut room amounts to smoking about 100 cigarettes.
