Narali Purnima or Coconut Day is celebrated mainly by the fisherfolks in India. It signifies the end of monsoon season in Maharashtra and is celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Shravan. On this occasion, people offer coconuts to appease the God of Sea. It is believed that feasting on coconut will keep them safe from the wrath of the seas and would also bring an abundant catch of fish. Decorated boats and festoons add fervor to the day.
