It seems that the troubles of Andhra Pradesh government are never ending. The financially crippled state has recently organized the costly foundation stone laying ceremony for the capital city Amaravati.
Prior to that, so much of hard work was put in to pool around 33,000 acres of land from the Farmers. Now, when the work for the capital city is ready to take off, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has created a roadblock.
NGT is said to have issued notice to AP Govt. and the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) for violating its directives on the selected region for capital city construction.
Responding to a petition filed by some individuals, who are opposing the construction of the capital city in the fertile lands of Guntur district, NGT has directed the CRDA and the AP govt. to reply within a week, with all the explanations of why the green belt of Guntur was selected as capital region.
The other day Environmental activists asked the govt to shift the capital city by at least 20 km to avoid the destruction of green ecology.
