Martin Guptill became the most recent batsman to make Cricket World cup history with an innings of 237 not out in an aggregate of 393-6 which drove unbeaten New Zealand to a 143-run win over the West Indies in Saturday’s quarterfinal.
Guptill’s innings, aggregated from 163 balls and including 11 sixes and 24 fours.
Guptill became the most recent HIGHEST Scorer in a World Cup match, beating Chris Gayle’s 215 against Zimbabwe on 24 February, and the second-highest in all One-day Internationals after Rohit Sharma’s 264 for India in November last year.
Batting first in the fourth quarterfinal game, New Zealand scored up a forcing 393 for six, then bowled out West Indies for 250 in 30.3 overs to set up a clash with South Africa in semis at Auckland on March 24.
New Zealand will confront South Africa in the semi-finals while Australia play India in the other match.
