Nobel Peace Prize for Sri Sri

If reports emerging from national media houses are to be believed, Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who was recently crowned with the Padma Vibhushan, is in race to win one of the most prestigious awards in the world, the Nobel Peace Prize.

As per the national media, Ravi Shankar is a major contender for the Nobel peace award. The nominations for this year’s Nobel Peace were closed on February 1 and the Prize will be announced in October.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar came into world prominence following successfully arranging the peace talks between FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia) and the Columbian government. FARC methods claimed over 200,000 lives in Columbia since 1964. Over 6 million people were affected by FARC violence.

However, after Sri Sri intervened, FARC revolutionaries gave up the warpath and adopted Gandhian method of resolution of disputes through peace talks. The Columbian government honored Sri Sri with their highest civilian award, ‘Orden de la Democracia Simon Bolivar’ in 2015.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar founded ‘The Art of Living Foundation’ is one of the largest volunteer based organization in the world with its members coming from over 150 countries.
