Padma Awards are considered as the prestigious awards conferred by the Indian Government to distinguished personalities from various fields.
Andhra Pradesh government has recommended names of noted personalities for the Padma awards this year. Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao has sent this list (Total 30 members) to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Recommended list is as follows:
Ramoji Rao and Dr Nageswar Reddy
Murali Mohan, Mannam Gopichand, Ananda Sankara Jaynthi, Chaganti Koteswara Rao and Dr Soma Raju
Rajendra Prasad (actor), Veturi Sundara Ramamurthy (lyricist), Ramanayya (venkatagiri weaver), Pasumarthi Rattaih Sarma (kuchipudi dance), Vandemataram Srinivas (music), Madduri Venkateswarayazulu (vedic scholar), Harika (chess), Dr Yarlagadda Nayudamma, Dr Gopala Krishna Gokhale, Kidambi Srikanth (Badminton),Dr Chandrasekara Rao Simhadri, Dr Mohan Vamsi etc.
There have been a lot of controversies involving Padma awardees, over the years. May prominent personalities have declined the awards publicly citing the same reasons.
