Telugu Film Celebrities used their vote right in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections and appealed to urban voters to take part in the polling.
Actors like Allu Arjun, Balakrishna Nandamuri, Jr NTR, Nagarjuna, Manchu Family, Rajendra Prasad etc cast their votes at polling centres. They appealed to youth, who often complain about lack of basic amenities, to come out and vote to elect their choice of representatives.
After casting his vote Allu Arjun tweeted, “Vote.. if you don’t vote you don’t have the right to complain.”
Movie Artists’ Association (MAA) President Rajendra Prasad also participated in polls along with his family members.
Balakrishna’s daughter Brahmini also cast her vote along with her husband Nara Lokesh and her mother-in-law Bhuvaneswari. Telangana IT Minister KTR also joined the league.
Polling percentage is not so great as youths are not turning up yet. It may be noted that the turnover was less than 45 percent in GHMC polls in 2009.
