Red Sanders Smuggler Gangi Reddy Deported to AP

The notorious international red sander smuggler Kollam Gangi Reddy, who ran red sanders smuggling racket in the Seshachalam forests, has been brought to Andhra Pradesh this afternoon.

The Interpol in Mauritius caught him when he was on his way to Sri Lanka from Mauritius. A Mauritius court handed him over to Special police team of Andhra Pradesh. He was shifted from the court to the Mauritius airport with tight security.

From Mauritius, he landed in New Delhi along with special team of AP. This afternoon, he is brought to Hyderabad and he is expected to be presented before District judge on Monday.

As many as 25 cases are pending against him across Rayalaseema. He is also a key accused in the assassination attempt on then AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in 2003.

It is said that Gangi Reddy has been evading AP police and living in Mauritius with a fake passport. Gangi Reddy’s arrest has sent shivering notes across many politicians and police officials in Chittoor district as many of them were allegedly involved with him.
