Russia to Set Up 2 Nuclear Power Plants in Andhra Pradesh

2 of the proposed 12 atomic reactors in India to be set up by Russia will be built in Andhra Pradesh state as per the deal signed between the two countries during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Russia.

The agreement was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to this agreement, Indian Government will offer land in Andhra Pradesh to Russia for setting up 5th and 6th Units of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant. AP will get big industrial boost with this deal.

In April 2015, Modi and Putin signed an agreement to build 3rd and 4th Units of Kudankulam Power Plant at Tirunelveli with an Investment of Rs 33,000 crore. Russia agreed to build a total of 12 nuclear reactors in India by 2035.

In all, 16 agreements were signed by the two countries during Modi’s recent trip including the setting up of a Kamev 226 T helicopter manufacturing unit and an Industry unit to manufacture Triumf Air defence Missile Systems with Rs 40,000 crore investment.
