Soon after the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) appointed Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan as the goodwill ambassador of the Indian contingent for the 2016 Olympics to be held in Rio de Janeiro, the IOA and Salman Khan faced an unprecedented anguish from sports community.
To pacify the people and sportsmen, the IOA has immediately approached 2008 Beijing Olympics Gold Medalist Abhinav Bindra and legendary Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar to join Salman Khan and as the goodwill ambassadors for the Indian contingent.
“I have had the privilege and honor of representing our nation for 24 years and I continue to bat for India off the field. The welfare of sportspersons and encouraging them to give their Best is very dear to me,” Sachin Tendulkar wrote in a letter to IOA after accepting its offer.
“I strongly believe that the sportspersons from different parts of the country, pursuing their unique skills are the true ambassadors of the growing sporting culture in this country. My best wishes to the entire contingent as we look forward to them proudly expressing themselves in Rio,” added the 43-year-old international icon.
