Tennis sensation Sania Mirza has set up an intense clash with the pair of Leander Paes and Martina Hingis in the mixed doubles quarter final at the Australian Open 2016.
Sania and her mixed doubles partner Croat Ivan Dodig, beat the unseeded Kazakh-Pakistani duo of Yaroslava Shvedova and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi 7-5 6-2 to reach quarter finals.
On the other hand, Paes and Martina Hingis (Women’s doubles partner of Sania) hammered the American-Dutch duo of Sloane Stephens and Jean-Julien Rojer 6-1 6-2 to set up clash (mixed doubles quarterfinals) with Sania-Dodig for the semi-final berth.
Earlier, Top seed Sania and Swiss Martina Hingis pair beat the 12th seeded German-American pair of Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Coco Vandeweghe 6-2 4-6 6-1 to reach Women’s Doubles Semi Final. The duo will next face the 13th seed German-Czech pair of Julia Goerges and Karolina Pliskova in the Women’s doubles semi-final.
