At a recent media event, Shah Rukh Khan admitted that he was personally disappointed with the performance of his latest release ‘Dilwale’ at the Box Office.
Shah Rukh said, “I don’t think the Film has done as well as it should have. I am personally disappointed with that. To be honest, it has perhaps not done as well in India as I would like it to do. But overseas it has done very well in a lot of countries. It is quite thrilling that Indian films are reaching far and wide.”
Dilwale was one of the Most Talked About films of last year. The film brought SRK and Kajol together on the silver screen after five years. It also clashed with acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s dream project Bajrao Mastani.
Although Bajirao Mastani starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra beat Dilwale at the domestic box office, SRK-Kajol film did well at the international box office and became the 4th highest Grosser overseas. Dilwale’s total box office collection in India and overseas crossed Rs 350 crore.
On the other hand, Bajirao Mastani crossed Rs 175 crore mark at the domestic Market. The period drama is still minting money in theatres.
