In a major development, all the 23 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) have hiked the tuition fee from Rs 90,000 to exorbitant Rs 2 lakh per student.
Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani has announced to waive tuition fee for students from Backward Class and Physically Challenged. Students with family annual income below Rs 5 lakh will be receiving 66% concession in the tuition fees at the IITs.
In March, the Standing Committee of IIT Council (SCIC) has responded positively to the fee hike proposal by more than two times to the existing one. The new rule will come into effect from next Academic Year.
This new implement has received outrageous response from students at it is utterly favorable to backward classes and complete injustice to general category students. They are planning to protest against this development.
