Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa Jayaraman, commonly referred to as Amma and Puratchi Thalaivi has passed away at Apollo Hospital in Chennai.
The hospital in a statement said that she breathed her last at 11:30 PM (5.12.2016).
She was admitted in the hospital since 22nd September with complaints of fever and dehydration.
The Condition of 68-year old leader became critical on Sunday evening, when she suffered a cardiac arrest.
President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have condoled the demise of J Jayalalithaa.
An official communication from the Government said that state mourning will be observed for seven days from 6th during which period the National flag on all government buildings will be flown at half mast.
There will be no official entertainment also during the period.
