The Hemis festival is one of the most popular religious festivals of Ladakh. The annual festival is held in the courtyard of Hemis Gompa, believed to be the biggest and the Wealthiest monastery in #Ladakh. It is celebrated in honour of the birth anniversary of Lord Padmasambhava, the founder of Tibetan Tantric Buddhism. In this colourful and vibrant two-day pageant, the Lamas perform the fabulous mask dance accompanied by cymbals, drums, and long horns.
