Indian cricketer and former India national under-19 cricket team captain Prithvi Shaw has emerged as the YOUNGEST Indian to score a century on Test debut, accomplishing the achievement aged 18 years and 329 days against Windies team.
Shaw shattered the 59-year-old record set by AA Baig (20 years and 126 days). Shaw is only the second Indian cricket player after Sachin Tendulkar to score a Test ton before turning 19.
In December 2017, Shaw was named captain of India’s squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World cup. He led India in the final where they beat Australia by 8 wickets to win their fourth Under-19 World Cup.
A right-hand, opening batsman, whose abilities as a cricketing genius have led to repeated comparisons with Sachin Tendulkar. Shaw made his first international appearance on 4 October 2018.
