The Telangana State Government has issued a notice on 15th Oct that vehicle owners must have to change their number plates in the coming four months.
Vehicle owners will have to rename ‘AP’ on their vehicle’s number plate to TS. The old district codes will also be changed to new ones. However, the last four numbers will remain the same.
This process of changing registration numbers can be done online for free of cost. After this change is done, AP vehicles will have to pay Life Tax to ply in Telangana.
This process of changing number plates was supposed to happen several months back but it was shelved as someone approached the High Court objecting to the change and filed a petition.
Recently, the High Court has given nod in the favor of Telangana government. Hence the change of number plates has been made mandatory now.
