Viacom18 Media Pvt Ltd has announced to air the National Award-winning documentary “Daughters of Mother India”, which explores the aftermath of the Nirbhaya incident that happened in year 2012 in Delhi.
The popular Indian entertainment network, Viacom, is known for backing powerful female protagonists in its Films and TV shows. The announcement to air the 45-minute documentary aired across the Viacom 18 network on December 27 (the death anniversary of Nirbhaya) was taken on the eve of the third anniversary of the heinous incident. “Daughters of Mother India” has already been showcased at various national and international galas, and it will now be shown in 7 languages across the Viacom18 network.
The Nirbhaya incident is named for the gruesome rape of the 23-year-old girl, who was beaten and gang raped by men in a private bus in which she was Travelling with her male friend. On 27th December 2012, she died in a Singapore hospital where she was airlifted for special treatment.
The gruesome incident brought people across the country together to raise their voice against crimes against Women. It is this spirit of the country that director Vibha Bakshi portrayed in the documentary.
