Woman Cricketer Durga Bhavani has allegedly committed suicide on 11th October, yesterday, at her residence in Vijayawada. Durga was found hanging to the ceiling.
It is reported that the 25-year-old Durga took this extreme step following some differences with her husband Satya Prasad, a sports journalist. This former Ranji cricketer is survived by 3-year-old daughter.
Durga Bhavani’s brother Guru Prakash brought this incident to the notice of police and after registering a formal case, police are thoroughly probing abut Durga’s untimely death.
Durga earlier allegedly complained against then Andhra Cricket Association secretary Chamundeshwarnath of Sexual Harassment. She had even lodged a case against him but recently she withdrew the case.
Durga’s sudden death has now come as a major shock to the sports fraternity and her family members.
