Recently, Chinese Smartphone maker VIVO was announced to replace Pepsi as the title sponsor of Indian Premier League (IPL). Today, BCCI Chief Secretary Anurag Thakur has unveiled the ‘VIVO IPL’ logo, thus confirming the news.
In fact, Pepsi was supposed to be the title sponsor of IPL from 2013 – 2017. But, Pepsi decided to disassociate itself with IPL following the match fixing controversy.
Although Lodha Committee appointed by the Supreme Court of India had banned IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals for coming 2 years, BCCI announced that 2 new teams will replace the banned teams for the next two years.
BCCI is planning to call for the bidding to claim ownership of the 2 new IPL franchises, after carefully studying the recommendation of the Lodha committee.
Meanwhile, Vivo is planning to extensively promote the company throughout the IPL to make itself a household brand in the huge Consumer based country.
