The first list of 20 Smart Cities was announced yesterday by the Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and it was surprising to find out that Telangana has not a single name in the list.
While Andhra Pradesh managed to get two cities, what exactly happened with Telangana? Here is the reason that proves that the pink panthers (TRS party leaders) have no one but themselves to blame.
Center had actually listed 98 cities initially to be developed as Smart cities. Then Centre had asked the local administration in every city to come up with the plans for development. The submitted presentations were evaluated by the Ministry officials and hence the first 20 cities were selected.
Telangana could not find a place in the list due to its poor presentation. Telangana government can only blame itself but none for this.
