Yahoo India announced that the ‘cow’ Trumped all other high profile contenders to emerge as the personality of the year 2015 in India.
“In an unexpected twist, the humble ‘cow’ emerged as ‘Personality of the Year’, trumping other high-profile contenders for the top spot. It started with the Maharashtra government announcing a ban ON SALE of beef in the state, a move which led to massive debates online and offline, spiraling into the ‘beef controversy’,” Yahoo said in a statement announcing its “Year in Review” for India.
The Dadri mob lynching, Award Wapsi movement (eminent writers and Filmmakers returning national awards) and numerous discussions over rising ‘intolerance’ in the country further propelled the cow to claim the top spot, as per Yahoo.
For the fourth consecutive year, Ex Porn star Sunny Leone stood first among the Most Searched female Celebrities, pushing Bollywood actresses Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone behind. Salman Khan emerged as the most searched male Celebrity.
