The State’s Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy at a recent press meet said the department is planning to install 15 lakh CCTV cameras across the state in next 3 years.
The state’s police head also said that 10 lakh out of 15 lakh CCTV cameras would be installed in the limits of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
Talking about the crime rate in the Telangana state, the DGP said that crime rate in the state came down by 5% in 2018.
The crime against Women came down by 7%, he said.
The DGP further claimed that Telangana was the only state in India with state-wide emergency response system.
In 2018, the police department received about 6.12 lakh emergency calls through its platform TSCOP and the average response time was 8.5 minutes per call.
“The response time was not only the Best in the country but comparable with the best in the world,” DGP said.
