YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had earlier in his public meetings repeatedly said that if his party YSR Congress voted into power, he would get special category status to the State of Andhra Pradesh.
YSR Congress party chief and Chief Minister-elect of the Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday (26th of May) has indicated that it won’t be possible to get special category status to the State of Andhra Pradesh, as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got over 300 Lok Sabha seats.
Speaking to media following a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr. Reddy said, “If the BJP would’ve been limited to 250 seats, we wouldn’t have had to depend so much on the central govt. But now, they don’t need us. We did what we could do and told him (PM) of our situation.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said in a Tweet, “had an excellent meeting with Andhra Pradesh’s CM designate YS Jagan. We had a fruitful interaction on several issues pertaining to AP’s development. Assured him all possible support from the Centre during his term.”
It is worth noting that Mr. Reddy had earlier in his public meetings repeatedly said that if his party voted into power, he would get special category status.
